Pneumatic and hydraulic actuators need pressurized air or liquid lines: an inlet line and an outlet line. Valves used to achieve this are called pilot valves. They are used to control other valves. In some valves for sprayer designs, the pressure of the flowing fluid itself or the pressure difference of the flowing fluid between the ports automatically controls flow through the valve.
